LED Face Mask at Home or in Clinic? How the Dermalux Mask Fits Your Skin Routine

By Wynyard Therapy·5 min read·Wynyard Village, Billingham

LED light therapy has been one of the most requested treatments in our Skin Clinic since we introduced Dermalux. It’s comfortable, there’s no downtime, and it pairs well with almost everything else on the skin menu. So when clients started asking whether they could do it at home, we wanted to give them a proper answer.

Wynyard Therapy is now a Dermalux preferred partner, which means we can help you buy the Dermalux LED Face Mask at a partner price. Here’s how an LED face mask at home compares with LED in clinic, what the Dermalux mask actually does, and how to decide which route suits your skin.

What LED light therapy does for the skin

LED treatments use specific wavelengths of light to support the skin’s own renewal processes. There’s no heat damage and nothing invasive about it, which is why it works so well on its own or as a finishing step after an advanced facial. Different wavelengths are associated with different results, so the light a device uses matters more than how bright it looks.

The Dermalux LED Face Mask combines three wavelengths in one 10‑minute treatment. According to Dermalux, this is what each one is designed to do:

633nm

Red: Rejuvenate

Smooths the appearance of fine lines, helps improve firmness and elasticity, and promotes a more even skin tone.

830nm

Near infrared: Restore

Supports skin repair and renewal, helps reduce visible redness and improves skin texture.

1072nm

Deep near infrared: Revitalise

Revives dull, tired‑looking skin and supports healthy microcirculation.

Why not all home LED masks are the same

Plenty of LED masks are sold online, and most of them work in one of two ways: they sit directly on the skin, and they ask you to choose between several colour modes. The Dermalux mask does neither.

It sits off the skin. Dermalux Off‑the‑Skin Technology™ holds every LED at the optimum distance from the face, which Dermalux says gives 93% face coverage, more even light and fewer hotspots than masks that rest on the skin. Coverage also extends further into the hairline.

It runs one programme. All three wavelengths are delivered together in a single optimised treatment, so there are no settings to adjust and no guessing which mode you should be using that day.

If you’re going to use a mask at home, it should be one you’ll actually use. Ten minutes and nothing to set up makes that a lot easier.

LED at home vs LED in clinic

This isn’t really a choice between one or the other. They do slightly different jobs, and most of our clients get the best results from using both.

In clinic

  • Treatment delivered by a trained therapist
  • Starts with a skin consultation
  • Can be added to an advanced facial or massage
  • A relaxing hour out of your week, not just a treatment
  • Part of a wider plan with your SKIN CLUB® team

At home

  • Ten minutes whenever it suits you
  • Helps keep results going between appointments
  • Lightweight and flexible to wear
  • One programme, nothing to adjust
  • A one‑off purchase rather than an ongoing cost

Who suits LED in clinic

If you’re new to LED, have a specific concern you’d like assessed, or you’re already booked in for facials, start in clinic. Your therapist can look at your skin, recommend the right combination of treatments and tell you honestly whether a home mask would add anything for you. You can book Dermalux LED Light Therapy on its own or add it to treatments like HYDRO2 and CACI facials.

Who suits an LED face mask at home

The mask makes most sense for clients who already love LED and want to keep their skin on track between visits, or for anyone who finds it hard to get into clinic as often as they’d like. It’s also a good fit if you prefer a simple routine: put it on, wait ten minutes, done.

A quick note on suitability

LED is suitable for most skin types and most people. If you’re pregnant, have a light‑sensitive condition, or take medication that makes your skin more sensitive to light, check with us or read the Dermalux guidance before you buy. If you’re unsure, a consultation is the easiest way to find out.

Frequently asked questions

Is an LED face mask at home as good as LED in clinic?

They do different jobs. In clinic, a therapist assesses your skin and can combine LED with other treatments. A home mask is designed for regular use between appointments to help keep results going. Most clients get the most from using both.

How long does a Dermalux mask treatment take?

Each treatment takes 10 minutes. The mask runs one programme combining all three wavelengths, so there are no modes to choose. Follow the guidance supplied with your mask for how often to use it.

What does the partner code DLXWYNYRD10 give me?

Our partner code gives you 10% off when you buy the Dermalux LED Face Mask direct from dermalux.com. It can’t be used in the Wynyard Therapy online shop.

Can I try Dermalux before buying a mask?

Yes. Book a Dermalux LED Light Therapy treatment in our Skin Clinic, or add LED to your next advanced facial or massage. It’s a good way to see how your skin responds before you buy.
